Stevenage Haven is a registered charity providing emergency accommodation to single homeless people in Stevenage and the surrounding areas.
Director, Barbara Howard, contacted HR Initiatives six years ago to help with a complex human resource issue and has been working with the professional HR consultancy ever since.
Initial contact with HR Initiatives was made based on a recommendation by another local charity, facing similar HR problems, which were successfully resolved by the HR Initiatives team. Over the years, Barbara and Stevenage Haven have consulted with their outsourced HR experts on a variety of human resource matters, viewing HR Initiatives as an extension of their team.
Stevenage Haven has grown considerably over recent years, incorporating another hostel within its operation. HR Initiatives has played a major role in the charity’s expansion and restructure, providing expert advice and guidance in matters such as employment law and staff transfers under TUPE regulations.
Barbara confirms: “HR Initiatives have provided much needed support in areas which have been highly complex. Knowing that there is a team on hand to help is most reassuring, a real comfort, and the team are all very professional and friendly. Their response rates are excellent, whether you call or email, and I would highly recommend their cost-effective service to others”.
More recently, HR Initiatives have been working on a handbook for the charity, which Barbara had started work on but needed help to complete. HR Initiatives’ dedication and hard work has resulted in what is already being labelled internally as the ‘bible of information’, capturing all manner of vital information to improve working life at Stevenage Haven.
